Freshwater Road Trip 2012 - Yellowstone National Park

We drove from Coeur D'Alene through Idaho and Montana.  We stopped for the night in Bozeman, MT before we arrived at Yellowstone National Park.

The first stop on Yellowstone was Mammoth Hot Springs.

We saw some bison along the way.  These were the first of many bison grazing in the park.

Logan is standing in front of a 1.5M year old petrified tree.

We decided to take a couple of mile hike to Lost Lake for a picnic lunch.

Next we visited the water falls along the upper and lower rim of the park.

Our last stop on the first day in the park was the Artist Paint Pots.  Paint pots are boiling hot springs in a variety of colors.

We found more bison on our way out of the park on day 1.  This time there were also babies.

Our second day in Yellowstone began with a visit to the Fountain Paint Pots.

Next, we visited Grand Prismatic spring.
Next to the spring was the Opal Pool.

We spent some time in the Old Faithful gift shop while waiting for the geyser.
 Here's Old Faithful erupting.
Some rest and relaxation before we headed to Grand Teton Park.
